Digital Portfolios  – November 2018
This historic, first WebinART by PAEA featured several online platforms to organize and highlight student work. Robin Brewer shows how Google sites is a simple format for students (grades 6-12) to showcase their own work. Leslie Grace shares her experience with storing student portfolios (grades K-8) on Artsonia while raising funds for her school. Jill Anders shows the basics of Seesaw for any grade level.

Inclusion Strategies for Students with Autism Spectrum Disorder – January 2019
This WebinART presented by Karen Rosenburg helps art teachers with inclusion strategies and shows how to develop a plan for teaching students with ASD. Teachers learn how to set clear expectations for behavior, read an IEP and Revaluation Report, and find information on student’s skills and challenges. Karen shares how to set up clear expectations, adapt lessons and materials, foster successful inclusion practices, and develop strategies to create a collaborative relationship with paraprofessionals in order to effectively work with students with ASD.

Bringing a Visiting Artist into the Classroom – February 2019
Are you interested in bringing a visiting artist into your classroom? During this WebinART, teachers learn the process from beginning to end. Jes Noel tells us how to find an artist, how to get funding, and explains the execution of the entire process.

3D Printing and Digital Fabrication for the Art & Design Classroom – April 2019
Learn and discuss new and groundbreaking digital fabrication techniques and examples from PAEA 2016 Pennsylvania Art Education Association Outstanding Secondary Art Educator of the Year, Christopher Sweeney. In this WebinART, Chris shares details from his studio and classroom on how to incorporate these techniques into your existing curriculum.

Media Arts Standards and Blender 3D – May 2019
This WebinART, presented by members of PAEA’s ArtEdTech Interest Group, Robb Bomboy, Danielle Crowe and Andrew Teheran, introduced the National Media Arts Standards with Blender. Blender is easy to teach and students love it! Even if you don’t have access to a computer lab in school, recommend Blender to your students, especially those who are interested in 3D digital design, character design, animation. digital sculpting and 3D printing.

Extending Literacy: Visual Thinking and Learning in Art – June 2019
Dr. Julia L. Hovanec of Kutztown University presented this WebinART that explored the symbiotic relationship between visual literacy and literacy. Discover visual thinking strategies to put to use in the art room that will increase creative capacities and more.

In this WebinART, Angela Capuzzi, PAEA’s Middle Level Division Director, explores middle-level topics such as NJAHS chapters, conference presentations, classroom management, lesson ideas, and more!

The Power of Sketchbooks – September 2019
Benjamin Hoffman, PAEA’s Region 10 Representative, gave this WebinART presentation about the use of sketchbooks. Ben states, “Sketchbooks are an integral part of my classroom and have helped to fuel student’s creativity as well as enrich our choice-based classroom.” This presentation covers how sketchbooks have been used in both meaningful and relevant ways to learn from and build a series of best-practices in his classroom.

Collaborative Art with Building Community in Mind – November 2019

In this WebinART, Art Therapist, Kathryn Snyder, explores ideas of aesthetics through a relational lens to support using relational language, processing of content and meaning in art, and aesthetics in the classroom, enabling students and teachers to dialogue about their art and the artwork of others as a way of understanding self, the larger world and one’s place in history and contemporary society.

Making Paint from OCHRE Pigment – A STEAM Lesson – July 2020
Maureen Feineman, a Geosciences professor at Penn State, and Heather McCune Bruhn, an Art History professor at Penn State, share how to make watercolor paint from powdered ochre pigment, along with a discussion of the geological and art historical significance of ochre.

Online Event – COVID & Clay recorded webinart – COVID & Clay Slide Presentation – August 2020 
A panel of local experts from Region 1 address concerns and questions submitted by our membership and also share their experiences and go-to resources during this online event. While there are general guidelines available regarding school reopening, there is little information on ceramics classes specifically. These panelists are providing their expertise to the best of their understanding, backed by both personal experience and research. Use your own judgment to adapt the information you feel would be most relevant to and effective in your classroom setting.

An Anti-Racist Art Room – August 2020
Lynette Brown, PAEA’s Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Chair, explores common biases, the structure of racism, allyship, our journey and on-going work towards becoming anti-racist art educators, creating an equitable art classroom culture, lessons and resources for use in your classroom.

Virtual Teaching Resources for Art Educators – September 2020
In this WebinART, Sarah Jefferis shows us tools and lesson ideas that require little to no supplies for students. Some wonderings explored are:

• What art experiences can be accomplished with little to no supplies?
• What interactive websites are accessible to students for the creation of digital/virtual art?

Dr. Andrea McDonough presents research-based, best practices in mindfulness. She shares strategies to incorporate mindfulness in the art room environment as well as empower art teachers to take time to practice mindfulness throughout their daily routines. 

Online Event – Secondary Division – Secondary Trauma and Compassion Fatigue – October 2020
Nora Benko, MS, childhood counselor, a former teacher and current doctoral student specializing in research on compassion fatigue and secondary trauma for educators, leads participants through the process of identifying, understanding and working through secondary trauma they experience as educators. Participants can use this knowledge to develop personal plans for long term career sustainability and to prevent teacher burnout.

Lisa Leibering, formerly of the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust, shares how wire and foil can be manipulated into 3D art projects that are easy to complete at home and are adaptable for all grade levels.

In this workshop, Lisa Leibering shares how cardboard can be manipulated into 3D art projects like masks and other forms of sculpture that are easy to complete at home and are adaptable for all grade levels. 

Online Event – Region 12 – Exclusive PAFA Museum and PAEA Virtual Tour – January 2021
This virtual tour with the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts includes a guided tour of “Awakened in You”, Constance E. Clayton Collection, and a new exhibition, Taking Space: Contemporary Women Artist and the Politics of Scale.

Legacy in Art Education Series: Kelly Armor – January 2021
The Legacy in Art Education Series honors an art educator who has made significant contributions to the field of art education in the state of Pennsylvania during their career. In this WebinART, we celebrate Kelly Armor as she discusses her work as a folklorist, performing artist and art museum educator.

Feminist Pedagogy and 3D Printing in Middle School – January 2021
Dr. Jennifer Motter, Dr. Karen Keifer-Boyd and Dr. Yen-Ju Lin present their collaboration in guiding preservice art educators to interpret feminist art pedagogy and create art WebQuests involving 3D printing for middle school students. They discuss their collaboration, enabled through the use of digital technologies, such as website builder applications, video conferencing tools and 3D printers. They also address how the use of digital technologies enable collaborative making and disrupt race, gender, and social hierarchies in the learning environment.

Online Event – Region 1 – Alcohol Inks at Home with the Brandywine River Museum of Art – February 2021
PAEA and Education staff from The Brandywine River Museum of Art explore the use of color in works by the Wyeth family and other artists through a virtual tour. After the virtual tour, they share how to use Sharpie markers and rubbing alcohol to create bold, fluid designs on ceramic tiles. This technique is similar to popular alcohol ink projects, using markers you have at home. 

Online Event – Region 7 – Using VTS on a Virtual Tour of The Modernists at SAM – February 2021
Tinal Sell, Director of Education at the Susquehanna Art Museum, takes us on a tour of SAM’s current exhibition, The Modernists: Witnesses to the 20th Century. This virtual workshop gives teachers an introduction, or a refresher, on using Visual Thinking Strategies with students when looking at a work of art. 

Online Event – Region 2 – Piñata Making Workshop – March 2021
Esther Ortiz, piñata maker in the Erie region, shares the steps of making piñatas while connecting to her Mexican culture. Ortiz’s piñata workshop offers two sessions. Session 1 provides a context for her experience in piñata making and takes participants through step-by-step instructions on making the piñata shell. Session 2 focuses on decorating and filling the finished piñata.
